When we were toddlers we so much wanted to grow up and start school. Some of us were attracted by the school uniforms worn by our simblings, the fascination of seeing them being able to count form one up to ten, the food tins that mom prepared for them every evening with some nice treats in them and so forth. Once we had our opportunity of starting school we never ceased dreaming. We imagined ourself graduating high school, we envisioned ourself attending that matric dance function towards the end of our schooling days and started dreaming about our ideal careers. All of the above explain one thing, and that is the teleological nature of man.
What does that mean? It means that as humans we've got that thing inside us that whisper to us that our being is completed by our future status qou. That is the point where dreams begin to play a major role in our lives. As we dream about our future being we automatically set goals for ourself. Ironically we interprete our future being in the context of our current experiences, naive of the fact that life is not constant but ever changing. Consequently we begin to face real challenges in life as we meet up with the unexpected.
Waldo Emmerson, America's modern philosopher clear's this dicotomy through his theory called the law of motion. Emmerson's law of motion explains that nothing is stationery in life. Which means that everything is constantly moving. A person could be moving forward or he could be moving backwards with his life, I could be building my life or I could be demolishing it, another person could be growing or he could be dying. Therefore I totally agree with Emmerson's law.
Now that I v'e explained the two schools of thougth, i.e. the teleological nature of man and Emmerson's law of motion I would like to propose strategies that could be applied to encourage growth in our lives.
i) Be aware of your thoughts and action at all times: - The law of attraction which is explained well in a book called the secret, wriitten by Rhonda Byrne explains that thoughts are things. Whatever we think about right now could determine our actions and our direction in future. Being aware of our thougts and actions will hint to us if we are taking a forward or backward motion in our life. If we are making a forward motion we are growing and if we making a backward motion then we are dying.
ii) Live your life proactively - Avoid living your life passively or through trial and error scenarios. Take the driving seat of your life. You can poactively and purposefully influence the direction that your life inclines into.
iii) Read widely - Ignorance is a sure thing to take your life into a backward motion. Those of you who are christians will agree with me. The holy bible makes it clear in a scripture that says "My people perish because of lack of knowledge'. If you are ignorant you dont grow and finally you perish (die). Read a lot of books magazines, websites etc and read from diverse subject matter. This will enrich the depth and the magnitute of your thinking patterns. The richer your thinking patterns the richer your growth potential.
iv) Find your self a mentor or coach - Find yourself someone that you can look up to. Someone you could you have confidence in and you can look up to that person as your role model, someone who can guide you though the journey of your life. Experience has taught me that a mentor does not neccessarily have to be a person you intereact with face to face. You can make yourself a mentor from people out there that you respect a lot. These could be politicians, World class entrepreneurs, authors etc. You can read their biographies, articles, books or even attend their seminars. Personally I made mentors out of three people I have not met before and believe me, these people have impacted my life in a big way and they are Dr. Stephen R. Covey (I have Read most of his books), Dr. John F.Demartini (I am inspired by his book - you can have an amazing life just in 60 days) and Dr. Jack Canfield of the chicken soup fame, I was mostly inspired by his book called The success principles. These people are my mentors and role models.
v) Leave within your means - Avoid spending the money you dont have, buying tihngs you dont actually need, trying to impress the people you don't know or people who don't even notice because if you do that chances are you are going the end up in heavy debts and not able to service your debts, Once you are not able to service your debt your credit profile will be affected negetively and you will end up being blacklisted by the credit bereau.Worst of all, debt collectors will start calling you and they will even call you at work and you will be embarrassed before your collegues. You end up contracting callphobia, a dysfunction of avoiding telephone calls, Once all that happens then definitley your life is moving on the backwards motion, and that simply means you are not growing but are dying a slow death. For more insight of personal finance read Suze Orman.
The law of motion is in operation in your life wheather you are aware or not. It's an unavoidable reallity into your life just like the law of gravity is an unavoidable reality to the univers. However we are fortunate because of the teleological nature we possess. Let us take cognizance of the reality of the law of motion and exploit the advantages of the teleological nature embedded in all human species. If we consciously and consistently do that, we are going to incline on the forward motion of our life line and reap the benefits of growth.

It's really simple to attract money into your life.
A lot of people out there want to make money and have financial freedom dreams. Well over 90% of people leave their lives without ever making means to learn how to earn money. Earning money or accummulating wealth could be the simplest thing ever. Accumulation of wealth has got nothing to do with your age, level of education, your background and so forth. Millionaires have been made out of illiterate people. In South Africa for example we had the legendary Ephraim Shabalala who did not have formal education at all but lived and died a multi-millionaire. We still have the likes of the legendary Richard Maponya who does not posses top end educational qualifications like degrees but have been multi-millionaire for long. On the international arena we have Bill Gates, who is rated the second richest man in the whole world, but has dropped out of college. On the contrary some of the highly educated and experienced poeple lead either mediocer lives of even struggle to make end meet. A lot of people go to school, get the best qualifications and come back to be employed by people who lower levels of education than they do.
America's modern philosopher, Waldo Emmerson teaches about the law of compasation. According to this law, one must give something in order to gain something. In other words 'there is nothing for nothing'. This hooks with other laws such as the law of cause and effect. Everything that happens does so because there is a cause to it, the law of action and reaction, for example a person may react to certain food because they fistly acted by consuming such food and the bilblical law of sowing and reaping. We all know the we reap what we sow.
If you really want to attract money into your life or even live a financial freedom dream you have to consciously practice the law that will usher you into living your dream of financial aboundance. Briefly you haeve to practice the law of service. Bob Proctor (Philosopher, personal coach and co-author of The secret) believes that money is the reward a person receives for rendering a service, the more valueable the service is, the bigger the reward will be. According to Proctor, working hand in hand with the law of service is the law of motion. The law of motion states that everythng is constantly moving and that nothing rests. This means that a person could be moving ahead in life or he could be moving backwards, a person could be growing or dying or person could be building their life or they could be demolilshing it. If you are rendering a service and depending of the value of the service being rendered you are likely to attract money/financial freedom into your life.
You might receive before giving something, but chances are whatever you receive without first giving (service) is not guaranteed to last, hence the famous saying: easy come, easy go!
If you want to attract money into your life then you must go through the following two steps:
1) Take a pen and a piece of paper and write how much do you want to eanr for instance this year. If for example you want to make $10,000.00 this year then jot it down.
2) Next you have to determine how are you going to increase your service rendition for you to earn the amount jotted in step one above. For example, you may decide to buy an accident damaged car, fix it and sell it at a profit. Repeat the process until you earn the envisaged amount.
Always put into your mind Proctor's philosophy that money is the reward a person received for rendering a service. Think about it along with Emmerson's law of compansation and see your self attracting mone in your life the easy way.

WHERE DID YOU COME FROM…….WHERE ARE YOU HEADING TO GOLD DIGGER
Historically the world has been a male dominated space. A woman has been regarded as secondary species to a primary species called man. Almost all religions and cultures held the view that this is the man’s world. The world out there believed that a woman’s place is in the kitchen or the woman’s place is in the bedroom.
All of the above led to a situation whereby by a woman became dependent upon a man for almost everything under the sun. I understand that the girl was not afforded an opportunity to attain a decent schooling for her for herself. If she did she was allowed to get educated only to a certain level determined by a man. As a result it became very impossible a woman to advance herself careewise as the corporate world became a male domain.
One has goat to understand that even though a woman was not vocal about her situation it does not mean that she was not dissatisfied with her condition. I believe that a woman has always wished that one day she get’s free from her shackles and that once it happens she will repay for all the decades that she has been shackled.
With regards to a change in the world’s economies, particularly political changes, the role of a woman began to be seen in a different light. I would like to support my statement from a South African perspective as I am a South African citizen.
After the dawning of liberation in April 1994 the economy went into some serious overhaul as a result of persuasion of new political objectives by the new democratic government. We begun to hear words such as Black Economic Empowerment (BEE),
Affirmative Action (AA), Employment Equity (EE) and so forth. All those changes we done in order to redress the political disparities engendered by the previous regime particularly to black and women of all race. The focus of this article is however on women across the globe.
Structural changes in the socio-political and economic make up of the world’s political order has ushered an era where a woman is a key player. In South Africa we began to witness a woman advancing into powerful leadership position both in the private and public sectors of the economy. A woman also played a key role a rising entrepreneur. Not only in the business and leadership spheres did a powerful woman emerge, but also in other spheres such as sports, film industry, music industry and so forth.
Not every woman had a breakthrough in life. However the successful one became inspirational to the other. Subsequently the other woman began to adore the achievements of the successful woman and had to device means that she could use to also attain success in life like the successful woman. The woman all over the world did everything to improve her position, especially her financial position. Some of the strategies she employed were excellent while others were socially unacceptable. One of the socially unacceptable means she opted for in what is commonly known as GOLD DIGGING in South Africa. In South Africa and the world at large there are trends whereby women allow themselves to get married to men as old as their fathers, usually rich men them main aim being to get themselves financial security. Home in South Africa for example the media often stories about a celebrity socialite girl by the name of Khanyi Mabu, who is also known as Gold digger. She was apparently married to a man as old as his father and has always being caught up in controversial stories covered by the media. There’s always been questions attempting to understand if she married Mandla Mthembu out of love or if she did it for the sake of his riches. After separating with her hubby she went for another who’s also her daddy’s size and rich also, and according to her there is nothing wrong with it. Is gold digging right or wrong? I am not the one to judge.
I think people look at gold digging from one facet only. According to me gold digging is a multi facet phenomena that needs to be thoroughly explored for us to have a more clearer and deeper understanding of it. We need to draw a line as to where it actually begins. People see gold digging as reported by the media in case of celebs such Khanyi Mbau and her old and rich lovers. I am convienced that gold digging stretches far more than that and I believe it has been around for ages. In fact I believe that a lot of marriages amongst ordinary people are not base upon a true union of lover but rather based on gold digging of some sort, just that the people engaged may have not been public figures and therefore no one noticed.
There is a custom in South Africa practiced by all black cultures called iLobolo. Directly translated in mean ‘payment of the bridal price’. If a man decides to get married the bride’s family is going to charge iLobolo for releasing their daughter the groom’s family. There is nothing wrong at all with the payment of iLobolo. It’s great custom that as been practiced for ages. However as times went by this custom got seriously abused. Some families began to charge incredible iLobolo, citing all the ‘good’ reasons for doing so. This practice shifted from the real meaning and purpose of iLobolo phenomena. Now according to me that is gold digging because now people want to make a fortune out of it. In the end a single conclusion can be drawn out of all this, gold digging, gold digging and more gold digging. I can safely say that a lot of parents have given their daughters of a self financial gain out of iLobolo. I hope you see now how far stretched gold digging is.
Far away from the thinking that gold digging relates to a situation whereby young girls give allow themselves to be married by old rich men for financial gains, the world has got to engage into a paradigm shift regarding this issue. A lot of young women out there married ordinary people such as blue collar workers for as long as they believed that they could have a secured financial future if they did so, what do you call that….ofcoarse gold digging. The other error is that we only look at females as gold digging potentials. The fact that some fathers make a fortune out of iLobolo wakes us to the fact that men also should be viewed as gold digging potentials. Besides that men have dated and got married for financial security. Who knows, we may be so critical to those that we view as gold diggers yet we might be born out of gold digging relationships.
I am not condoning gold digging as practised by the likes of celebrity socialites across the globe, all I am saying is let us look at issues at a much broader spectrum. If we want to correct any kind of problem in life we must get into the wisdom of looking at the past, the present and the future. We must also understand that we may not get our solution overnight but things may be sorted out after some time for as long as we strive to be objective and broad minded at all times.
In conclusion I would like to say we are the masters of our destiny, we are our outcomes. What we are today is the result of our thinking and the resultant behaviours we had yesterday. Gold digging did not fall from the sky but it is the direct outcome of the thinking patterns held by our predescesers. As masters we have got to predefine our destiny so that whatever outcomes we land at should be what we consciously opted for.
The practice of gold digging is indicative of the inner urge for man to succeed. It is not a crime to seek for success in life, in fact it is the way to go. You don’t have to be a gold digger to succeed in life because you hold the ability to create your own success in life. Remember that you are your outcomes. What you are today is the outcome of thoughts, action and behaviours had yesterday. The holy scriptures say ‘As a man thinks, so is he’. The fact that man holds an inner urge to succeed justifies that man can achieve whatever he wants, the only thing we have to do is believe in our abilities, think the right thoughts and practice the right behaviour stemming from our good thinking patterns and finally earn our predetermined success.
Finally, I want to say that success is not only measured by the size of your wallet. Money is only one of the measure that make up what we call success and it is not the sole determinant of success.
All of the above led to a situation whereby by a woman became dependent upon a man for almost everything under the sun. I understand that the girl was not afforded an opportunity to attain a decent schooling for her for herself. If she did she was allowed to get educated only to a certain level determined by a man. FLIPSIDE
It is so interesting to notice that nature seeks to strike a balancing act in everything. Economists speak of a balancing act when they refer to healthy growth of the economy. In the field of account a healthy recording of transactions is maintained through some form of a balancing act as they say 'every debit has a corresponding credit'. So, it comes into my mind that a true picture of life has to be viewed in the context of a balancing act if we are to capture a true meaning of life.
The principle of a balancing act is also demonstrated by a coin. This brings me to an understanding that that 'LIFE IS LIKE A COIN'. If you look at a coin you will immediatly understand is symbolic of a significant value, and that such value is an interpretation of our intrinsic and extrinsic value as individuals. Ofcoarse, a single coin may not sufficient reflect our value as individuals, but for example being in possession of asset with networth of 1,000.000.00 dollars also means that our million dollar assets are made up of coins to that value..
Let me get straight to the point. A coin is a two sided piece of metal that carries value with it. A coin with the head side only is useless and bears no value, much in the same way, a coin with the tail side only is useless and bears no value.
A true coin is constituent of both the head and the tail sides working together synergistically. Each side needs it's opposite in order to be a complete coin and this is the only way that value will be attached to the coin in a holistic way.
The difference between a break through and failure, happiness and sadness in our our life lies in our ability in understanding the balancing act and looking in the flipside of our life coin for us to lead more meaningful lives.
Accountants say every debit has got a corresponding credit. Life in general goes much the same way. People must understand that nature always seeks to create a balancing act. Every positive situation in life has got it's corresponding negative. The opposite is also true.
every time a person goes through some negative situation in life, for example divorce, retrenchment, collapsing of the business etc, people must look on the flipside of the situation. Divorce for example of a negative situation capable of ruining down one's life, yet if one can look at the flipside of divorce they will begin the good side of it. When they see the up side of it, they must focus on that up side to bring about the balancing act.
The same is true with retrenchment. A person may be retrenched after working of a long time for a particular organisation. Negative as that may sound, that person could be having an excellent opportunity to do something better that will pay out far better than if they were employed. When they get retrenched They will the organisation with a wealth of experience and monetary pay-out. and that can enable them to break through a new start that could make them very successful.
On the flipside the person could be very successful and with huge bank balances and other assets, yet the person could be leaving on the threat of loosing everything they possess.
Therfore it is important to always think of the balancing act in life and that should trigger you to always look on the flipside of everything are, do, or have. And this will always ensure that you thrive in life.
The principle of a balancing act is also demonstrated by a coin. This brings me to an understanding that that 'LIFE IS LIKE A COIN'. If you look at a coin you will immediatly understand is symbolic of a significant value, and that such value is an interpretation of our intrinsic and extrinsic value as individuals. every time a person goes through some negative situation in life, for example divorce, retrenchment, collapsing of the business etc, people must look on the flipside of the situation.

Do you believe that knowledge is power?
What we are today is motivated and craved by the various backgrounds we are all coming from. Our backgrounds are made up of the inter-connection of various factors that collaborate together, and impact us based on socio-economic, political, technological, religious and cultural environments we are exposed to.
The common dominator in all the above mentioned factors is the language. Politics, invention, innovations, commerce, failures etc. are all conceived, expressed and manifested through the medium of a language. Some languages (for example English) are so powerful in such a way that they dominate the world and everything in it.
Words have been spoken and even written over history by many great people. People have quoted from greats such as Socrates, Galeleo, Aristotle, Buddah , Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein etc. Today people are still quote from modern philosophers such Waldo Emmerson, Nelson Mandela, Jack Canfield etc. Words that have been spoken or even written great icons such the ones I mentioned above have been adopted by nations and have become a portion of their fundamental premises of reasoning. In other words such words have become contributors in nations paradigms of thought.
Amongst words and paradigms that have been propagated over centuries, I would like to challenge the widely used adage that say ‘KNOWLEDGE IS POWER’. Like all other words that have been said that have influenced the thinking and the resultant behavior of people in the world, I would like to urge the world to get analytical in the use of such an adage, so that we can perceive, express and manifest the kind of wisdom that is realistic and capable of directing us and generations to come into a sensible, constructive and logical outcomes
One thing will remain true at all times: no man, family, community, nation, continent and world will break into a success beyond their level of thinking. You are the master of your destiny, in other words – you are your outcomes. It’s time for a paradigm shift.
Knowledge is not power. Knowledge is however potential power. Yes! Wrong precepts will lead to wrong concept and ultimately wrong behaviour and outcomes. Knowledge will remain useless until unleashed and put into use. There you don’t expect power from potential.
I just want to explain this by way of example. I have an experience of how the misconception that knowledge is power has led to undesirable outcomes in the work environment. While I was still employed by one of the major banking groups in the Republic of South Africa, top management saw the need to bring in fresh talent into the organization. They wanted to bring in young people in the group, train them up and created a talent pool that they utilize in future. Therefore they introduced the graduate programme. These young graduates were source from universities and Technikons in the country.
You can imagine a lot of these young graduates come into the workplace with an attitude that they are professionals and know a lot. (any way knowledge is power). Many of them became thick headed and never valued much the people they found in the employ of the organization. Their thinking of possessing superior knowledge has puffed them up as they begun to feel empowered. Some on the them thought by merely possessing a Bachelor’s degree and an employment contract in a reputable banking group that they are qualified of amassing the spoils of the corporate world. They raised their expectations so high only find that things don’t work out they expect. Believe you me, a lot of them became very disappointed.
This is just of the many illustrations that demonstrate that how wrong and harmful is the adage: knowledge is power. It is my desire that everyone in the world should start building on the new adage that says ‘KNOWLEDGE IS POTENTIAL POWER’.
